Yuyu thank you, I will look foward to talking to you soon.
Kathleen – Thank you I am trying to remain positive, I have every person in the world that wants to be negative, and I’m doing the best I can to ignore that.
Celeni Thank you so much.
Melsamei- I will contact you soon I am interested in getting info from you.
jill – Thank you for this wonderful website the support has been wonderful. I will most likely end up going to sloan kettering to get a second opinion, and then OSU to get a third opinion. If the doctors do not want to help me fight I will find someone who will help me fight. I will keep you updated on everything, you have a very strong voice to give awareness about different treatments that people need to be aware of. I am also interested in talking to you on a more personal level. I see that you are a quilter, and I would like to get tips from you! Im a fashion deigner and I sew all types of clothing and such, but I haven’t found my self to have the patience to make a quilt I am more on the level of making a large blanket almost the same way of quilting except just stuffing it, sewing it, and using yarn to tie surgeron knots every few inches! LOL (wow sorry for the lengthy response).
jkgullo – I will be finding another doctor.
Mac – thank you so much, I hope to be able to chat with you on a more personal level as well.
If i forgot anyone else thank you all for your support.

Hi, Assefa!

Yuyu
Welcome Assefa,
You sweet girl for your tender years you have certainly had your share of heartache. But, don’t let any Doctors with negative thoughts get you down or people that always had a relative or friend that just happened to have the same diagnosis as you, though it just didn’t work out for them. If I had a dollar dor everytime someone said that to me, I’d have some $$$$. Follow your own gut feeling. I was diagnosed with Leukemia 14 years ago and given a poor prognosis. I was a single Mom with 3 young children and I was told at the very most I had 3-5 years. I feel so blessed in more ways that I could write here. This battle hasn’t been without complication but you have to weather the storm to see the rainbow. Good Luck to you. I do know quite a bit about OSU only because a Dr. Brian Druker there was a student of my ONC and he is responsible for the drug that I am on, Gleevec that was aka STI-571 while in clinical trials of getting this drug passed by the FDA. AFter being on Gleevec for just 12 months I was in REMISSION. So, I truly belive in him and research for when I was first diagnosed Gleevec was only a hope, now they even have what they call the new 2 super Gleevecs.
You will have a wonderful support system here. If you ever need to chat, I have broad shoulders.
Be Well, Be Happy, Patty
Assefa,
I have been in Hawaii (poor me) and not online for a week. I just saw you “Bas News” post today. The reason I mentioned Hawaii is that I have lived beyond my prognosis and I am well enough to be traveling. So don’t fall for that depressing estimated expiration date. Ridiculous. I am so proud of you for seeking multiple opinions. Be proactive and go for it! Don’t accept the negative, try to get onto a clinical trial to get the latest and greatest treatment available. Think like a winner. Surround yourself with love and people who believe in you and give you strength. Do what you love. Make that quilt. Set goals. Meet them. Have fun. Keep going, just like the Energizer Bunny. Stay in touch with us. You have much love, support, and many prayers right here! I am strong, and so are you, Gaile
Hi There,
Haven’t heard from you. How are you doing. I know you were going for a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Any news?
Kathleen
